Slime at E-Werk opening for Sex Pistols
Slime is a highly influential German punk rock band founded in Hamburg in 1979. They are widely recognized as a defining pioneer of Deutschpunk (German-language punk rock), known for their aggressive musical style and highly provocative, anti-fascist-anarchist lyrical themes. Over several decades, the band has gone through multiple breakups, reunions, and lineup changes, yet they remain a vital voice in the political punk scene.
Early Era: Their early tracks provided anthems and slogans for street protests and autonomous leftist movements in Germany. Hits like “Deutschland” and “ACAB” faced frequent controversy and legal scrutiny
The Masterpiece: Following a reunion in the early 1990s, they released Schweineherbst (1994). It is widely considered by critics and fans to be one of the most important German punk albums of all time.
The New Era: Long-time original lead vocalist Dirk Jora left the group in 2020. In late 2021, the band teamed up with Tex Brasket, a formerly homeless Berlin street musician, as their new frontman. This revitalized the group, leading to raw new tracks detailing life on the streets.
Slime opened the night at 6 PM with a 45 minutes set full of punk energy.
