It’s better sunny than rain for outd

It’s better sunny and hot than rain for outdoor concerts, for sure. But this time was on the limit, the thermometer in my car measuring the outdoor temperature was at 39.5 Celsius just past five in the afternoon. Brutally hot for a concert. With all that some 6-700 people came out for the dual headlining show, Jackson Dean and Kip Moore. The show was not only transferred from Calswerk Victoria to Die Kantine, but brought forward an hour so it ends by the time Germany – Ecuador kicks off their football game at 10 PM. The outcome was quite surprising in the favour of Ecuador.

There was pump-up music streaming from the speakers before Kip Moore took stage. Tom Petty – You Don’t Know How It Feels was absolutely cool, Queen – Somebody To Love was out of line no matter how popular Queen is in Germany, and then Black Sabbath – War Pigs blasted through the speakers just before the headliner took the stage. Weird choice., last chance for some head banging before we feed you some country.

Kip Moore kicked off his set at 8:15 p.m. with Levee, the title track from his freshly released album. The country-rock anthem immediately helped the audience forget about the heat and fully embrace the evening. The set continued with Only Me and another new song, Get What Ya Give, an energetic crowd-pleaser that kept the momentum going.

A selection of tracks spanning Moore’s entire catalogue followed, including Beer Money, Somethin’ ,’Bout a Truck, Last Shot, and Heart’s Desire. Despite the sweltering temperatures, Moore and his band delivered a high-energy performance from start to finish. Kudos for that.

For a cover of The Band’s classic The Weight, Jackson Dean and his band joined Moore on stage, a collaboration that was warmly received by the audience.

As the final notes rang out across the venue, the crowd responded with enthusiastic cheers, showing their appreciation for an evening packed with strong performances and genuine musicianship. Despite the challenging heat and last-minute venue change, both Jackson Dean and Kip Moore delivered memorable sets that proved why they remain among the most compelling names in modern country music. Those who made the effort to brave the temperatures were rewarded with a night of outstanding entertainment under the Cologne summer sky. Just last year Kip Moore was at the E-Werk so this year venue was a downgrade, but more and more artists are downgrading the venues.
