Begonia, Canadian Juno award nominee artist from Winnipeg opened for The Bros Landreth at Luxor in Köln with a 30 minutes set. We were in for a real treat as Begonia surpassed all expectations for an opener act with her incredible voice and impressive compositions. And yep, the lyrics, each and every song is wrapped around lyrics. To be honest, I prefer to listen to Begonia live than her studio recordings. Her voice is way better live and I’m not much of a fan of her studio orchestration.
‘Let’s get so high that we don’t feel nothing
This getting by looks a bit too rough on you
Just do like I do, it’s much less crushing
Then getting by doesn’t seem so hard to do
You might think I’ve grown out of it
Thirty-year-old stoner with no radio hit
No kids, no car, no finished basement
But I can float away better than any of you
And I do
Takes one to know one, and you know me
Don’t it feel cute just to shoot the breeze?
Forget your plans, skin your knees
Don’t worry about who’s praying for you’
