Embryonic Autopsy at Gebaude 9, Cologne

Embryonic Autopsy is an active American brutal death metal band based out of Chicago, Illinois. Formed by vocalist Tim King (known for his work with SOiL and Oppressor) and guitarist Scott Roberts (formerly of Otep), the band focuses on a style deeply rooted in early 1990s old-school death metal, heavy grooves, and biological sci-fi horror lyrical concepts. The band’s discography revolves around a sci-fi narrative concept detailing alien intervention, genetic manipulation, and mutated hybrid lifeforms reclaiming dominance.

They opened for Six Feet Under in front of a sold out room at Gebaude 9 in Cologne with great stage presence and strong support from the crowd. The stage lighting matched their genre pretty well, shooting photos was on the edge but managed to take some. Song titles are trying to be as shocking as possible. Brutal death metal bands use shocking, grotesque, or highly graphic song titles mainly for shock value, horror-inspired theater, and as an expression of morbid curiosity. Instead of being literal, the titles act as a controlled, fictional outlet for aggression and taboo subjects. Many titles are deliberately long, convoluted, and heavily inspired by anatomy, pathology, or medical textbooks. This provides a clinical, cold detachment to violent themes, which has been a stylistic staple since early extreme metal bands.
