Day Of The Ash feels like a return to U2’s punk-rock roots but wrapped in a contemporary sound, politically charged, The Edge’s guitar is at the forefront once again. All four members of the band are present, including Mullen, who’s recovering from various injuries. A bit suspicious how suddenly lots of artists are jumping on the political bandwagon following Springsteen’s initiative. Hammer it while is hot. With that the EP sounds decent, and yep there’s Ed Sheeran, a name to have featured from Megan Moroney to U2. ‘Yours Eternally’ feat. Ed Sheeran is the weakest point of the EP with it’s ‘stomp and holler’ sound.
