Faster Pussycat
Special Guests: Blacklist Union & Lorraine Lewis
They’ve been around for over 40 years and are just as loud and raucous as ever: Hard rock and glam rock stalwarts Faster Pussycat are coming to Germany this September for three shows in Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin!
Emerging from the depths of the LA glam rock scene that dominated the mid-80s, a group of misfit youths brought their own brand of outlaw rock to the masses. Neither glam nor punk—but somewhere in between—they possessed a unique attitude and swagger all their own. Led by the self-proclaimed “King of the Sleaze,” Taime Downe, Faster Pussycat was his brainchild.
Overnight, this motley crew of troublemakers landed a record deal with Elektra Records and, in 1987, released their self-titled debut album—a record featuring instant glam rock classics such as “Babylon,” “Bathroom Wall,” “Cathouse,” and “Don’t Change That Song.” Never truly conforming to the mainstream mold, Faster Pussycat toured alongside artists like Alice Cooper, Mötley Crüe, David Lee Roth, Motörhead, Whitesnake, Guns N’ Roses, and Kiss.
Before long, they released their second album, *Wake Me When It’s Over*. With that record, it became evident that the band was embracing increasingly darker imagery and themes—a trend that continued on their third album, *Whipped!* (1992). However, amidst all the attention Faster Pussycat was receiving, things began to get complicated; following the *Whipped!* tour, the band disbanded indefinitely.
It wasn’t until 2001 that the idea of a new Faster Pussycat tour was finally put on the table. Consequently, Taime orchestrated a relaunch of the band, adopting a darker aesthetic. The years that followed would prove to be some of their most exciting, raunchy, provocative, and productive to date. Taime began assembling the pieces that would eventually become the first Faster Pussycat album in nearly a decade: *The Power and the Glory Hole* became an instant classic. Today, Faster Pussycat continues to tour extensively around the globe; currently, Taime is working intensively on new material for another studio album.
On their three German shows, Faster Pussycat will be joined by Blacklist Union—the current band fronted by Andy Wood (former frontman of the grunge-influenced hard rock band Malfunkshun)—as well as Lorraine Lewis, former frontwoman of Femme Fatale and current lead singer of Vixen.
