Portugal. The Man reached new heights in 2017 with the release of their now platinum-winning album “Woodstock”. The album was marked by the overwhelming success of their rousing single “Feel It Still”, which earned the group a Grammy for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance”, seven times RIAA platinum awards, a record 20-week number 1 on alternative radio and an inevitable presence in the top 40. The single was streamed impressively 1.5 billion times on Spotify. In addition to their countless musical successes, the band is known for their many years of commitment to social justice. Portugal shines at this interface. The Man. In the course of their career, the band has always shown how art and activism can be combined. In 2020, they founded the Pass The Mic Foundation, which focuses on universal issues such as human rights, health and environmental protection. The focus is on concerns that directly affect indigenous peoples. The band is also committed to raising awareness for the DHDDS community, affected by a rare gene mutation. Here they raise important funds for research through the campaign “Frances Changed My Life”. The campaign was launched in honor of Gourley’s daughter Frances and aims to support families affected by DHDDS. In recent years, the band has raised and donated over a million dollars to both charities. Portugal. The Man also collaborate with numerous other organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (supporting communities in building public skate parks for young people in undersut communities), March for Our Lives (wepons reform), Keep Oregon Well and Protect Our Winters, to name a few. In 2022, the band continued their passion for activism when they launched the NIGHT OUT initiative that supports fans with disabilities. In addition to their social commitment, Portugal forgets. The man doesn’t like their music. The single ‘Denali’, released at the beginning of September, is the first harbinger of the upcoming album, the first since 2023, including a world tour.
