Jalen Ngonda combines deep worship for the soul story with a clear look forward. Grown from club artist to international festival act, he presents with his second album Doctrine Of Love a self-confident work that establishes him as the authentic voice of modern soul.

The title song was created spontaneously under the influence of James Brown and became the emotional and musical leitmotif of the album – a term that Ngonda deliberately leaves open and hands over to the listeners for their own interpretation. His passion for analog sounds, vintage vinyl and the style of the 50s and 60s not only characterizes his music, but also his stage presence: charming, elegant, in the spirit of the great soul entertainers.

Growing up in Maryland, he discovered his love for soul at the age of eleven through The Temptations. After training at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, he moved to London, first playing on the street and gradually developed his characteristic sound between Chicago and Detroit soul – carried by falset, musicality and charisma.

After his 2023 debut Come Around And Love Me, Doctrine Of Love continues stylistically, but goes even more towards the late 60s. With danceable uptempo numbers such as “Anyone In Love” or “Burning Temptation” as well as emotional ballads such as “Love Is Gone”, Ngonda shows his entire range. Live he unfolds his greatest strength – a mixture of passion, nostalgia and modern energy.
