English Indie rock band from Brighton, The Kooks,  live at Palladium in Köln.

The show was completely sold out, roughly 4,500 audience.

Sweet Caroline blasted from the PA and the audience happily sang along. When the music suddenly cut off, the crowd kept the chorus going on their own — right on cue for The Kooks to hit the stage.

High-energy fan favourites like She Moves in Her Own Way and Stormy Weather kept the floor bouncing. The band kept the songs tight and punchy, with barely any talk in between, opting instead to maintain momentum. Throughout the night, frontman Luke Pritchard strutted across the stage ala Mick Jagger, radiating confidence and charisma.

The other two members offered little interaction, focused more on delivering the songs than engaging with the crowd. They were there to do the job — and they did it well. The set was undeniably danceable, with pockets of singalongs breaking out, though not overwhelmingly so.

Everything ran smoothly — almost too smoothly. It was polished, well-arranged, and technically spot-on, yet at times it felt slightly sterile. Yuppie musicians performing for a yuppie audience, perhaps. Still, The Kooks haven’t lost the energy that once made them the poster boys of 2000s indie rock.
