Kumbia Queers (Buenos Aires, AR) lit up Gebäude 9 in Cologne.
The band’s cumbia inspired tropi-punk rhythms filled the packed room and carried everyone into motion.
Now here’s a technical observation:
how much stage equipment a band exactly needs to have to pack a room full of audience and connect with them?
Very little.
The Stratocaster guitar ran on a lunchbox ZT amp, few effects but not overdone,  beats came from Roland Octapad, a single Korg XPS-10 for keyboards and an Epiphone EB-O bass.
We shall not forget about a pair of maracas handled by the vocalist.
No Marshall stacks.
And that’s all that was needed to keep people in good mood and dancing.
The room was filled from the stage to the back.
“¡Que viva la kumbia!”
