DESCRIPTION:Americana and south-of-the-border-flavored Texas roots rock \nSince the release of her debut album in 2003\, Austin-based Patricia Vonne has released seven further albums that dance across the border\, showing her to be a tough Texan kick-ass rocker with influences from her Mexican and Spanish heritage. Vonne’s fervent and alluring performances have driven her international appeal. “The combination of the power of her performance and the romanticism of her songs creates a real mystique\, a very heady concoction.” \n“Born and bred in San Antonio\, TX\, the lovely Chicana singer\, composer\, bandleader and actress has absorbed just about every indigenous musical style Texas has on offer\, and can summon anyone in the flick of a castanet or guitar pick.” (Houston Press) \nHer lyrically and stylistically multilingual sound combines a host of genres and musical flavors and is best described as Americana with south-of-the border-flavoured Texas Roots Rock. Vonne mixes acoustic guitar with a rock lineup including a stinging lead guitar. She also plays castanets on several tunes\, adding their distinctive clacking percussion to her very evocative\, lively sound. \nThe Austin American-Statesman dubbed her “a Tex-Mex spitfire with a rock’n’roll heart who plays a border-crossing bilingual mix of flamenco flamboyance and down-in-the- mud exuberance that’s a Lone Star original\,” while the Austin Chronicle praised her as a “bilingual tour de force that melds eclectic with electric and exudes an elegance seldom associated with rock.” \nVonne has also made her mark musically on the silver screen: She wrote the song Traeme Paz featured in the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico starring Antonio Banderas\, Johnny Depp and Selma Hayek and Mudpies and Gasoline featured in Quentin Tarantino’s film Hellride. \nSister of director Robert Rodriguez\, Vonne has had roles in several of her brother’s movies\, including the memorable bad-guy-butt-kicking Zorro Girl in his film Sin City as well as roles in Desperado\, Spy Kids and Machete Kills. \nOpening shows for kindred souls like Joe Ely\, Los Lobos\, Chris Isaak\, Buddy Guy and others\, Vonne was also invited to tour Europe for the first time as a special guest with Tito & Tarantula\, best known for their world hit After Dark\, as performed in the kultfilm “From Dusk Till Dawn”. DESCRIPTION:Brandi Carlile \nSpecial guest: KT Tunstall \nTrying to pigeonhole American singer\, producer\, and songwriter Brandi Carlile into a single genre is a futile endeavor. Since her self-titled debut album in 2005\, she has shifted between folk\, Americana\, rock\, art pop\, and even classic rock. While her perhaps best-known song\, “The Story\,” powerfully transitions from country-folk to a grunge chorus\, she has proven increasingly versatile over the years\, experimenting with various styles and recording duets with artists such as Noah Kahan\, Miley Cyrus\, Lucius\, and Dolly Parton. She even recorded an entire duet album with Elton John. \nWith this in mind\, Brandi Carlile’s choice to title her first solo album in four years “Returning To Myself” can certainly be interpreted as a statement. It will be released on October 24th – and the title track\, a guitar ballad\, already evokes a sense of reflection\, introspection\, and self-discovery. The second advance single\, “A War With Time\,” is also a melancholic affair\, but thanks to the sophisticated production and unusual drum rhythm\, it still possesses a very intense drive. Carlile co-produced this time as well\, but brought on board some highly regarded and established names: Andrew Watt (who worked with the Rolling Stones on their comeback album “Hackney Diamonds”)\, Aaron Dessner (a member of The National)\, and Justin Vernon\, whom most probably know and appreciate as Bon Iver. \nBrandi Carlile will then present the new album in Europe next year. An exclusive show is on the tour schedule in Germany: she will play at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf on October 26th. \n
