Honda, Tolima takes its name from the indigenous people of the region which are called Ondaimas. Founded in 1539 and it was the main river port of the country for a long time. For us was a quick stopover on the dive between Zona Cafetera and Villa de Leyva. We explored around the main plaza and few blocks from there, but it’s more to the colonial town for those who can withstand the heat at 229 m altitude. Tourism is listed as a main industry, but we were pretty much the only ones around that day, I think. Now despite the heat and Blaze’s side-looks ‘what the hell we are doing here?’, there was a certain charm to the place I cannot say I didn’t liked it.
